Ikonoskop update: All hands on deck

Spoke with Viktor Björk, the managing director from Ikonoskop today in regards to the status of their new creation, the a-cam dII. Viktor sounded quite positive about the progress and has reported over 28 people working tightly around the clock to meet the new deadlines, now slated for April. I have witnessed a variety of different technological developments over the years and usually they tend to suffer the most time in the home stretch dealing with all the countless final details, one of which they are working out now is power management. For my guerrilla film making purposes, I need this rig to boot within seconds. Viktor continued to report an overwhelming amount of pre-orders since the announcement at IBC last September and If you order one today you are looking at a June/July delivery. This all sounds too familiar. (read: RED launch) Good luck wrapping things up Ikonoskop. Hit the jump for the latest specs and images on the Ikonoskop a-cam dII. UPDATE: the 1st deliver of this camera series Zero is in question at the moment although reports on the IKONOSKOP forum suggest February. I will update soon.

New deadline April?
Are you really sure that Victor stated that the first series (0) will be shipped no earlier than April?
This is what I was told over the phone, keep in mind the time difference so perhaps I am wrong, I hope so. On the forum they are slating February, so maybe he was just referencing my particular order number. I will follow up tomorrow.
I think it must have been your order as they told me definitely not April re delivery. I’m one of the first off the rank having laid down some cash before IBC opened from the other side of the world. I’ve been looking since the kinetta was announced but bought an Aaton XTR prod when that failed to materialize. Fortunately I sold that well and before the huge write down of S16 gear on the back of the RED one’s arrival.
It seems we are up in the air again. Technical malfunctions and more issues to address. It seems making one of these things…with the data rate etc is a bit harder than most think.
This is a unique and complicated piece of hardware and I would rather take delivery on a finished and working digital cinema camera then a beta unit. Take your time Ikonoskop and best of luck.
